Methods
In this study, authors examined the differences in adherence to a Mediterranean diet in over 1,000 vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. A Mediterranean diet emphasizes plant foods like nuts and has been shown to offer protection against cardiovascular disease.
Key Findings
In this study, vegans consumed significantly more nuts and legumes than omnivores and higher Mediterranean diet scores. Vegetarians also had higher scores than omnivores.
