In this study, authors looked at the relationship between dietary patterns and cardiovascular disease risk in African-Americans in the deep South.

Key Findings: Three major dietary patterns were identified: a “southern”, a “fast food” and a “prudent” pattern. The prudent dietary pattern, which included nuts, was associated with a lower risk of hypertension.
