Methods
This epidemiological study looked at the relationship between dietary patterns consumed and heart failure incidence among 16,068 adults living in the United States.
Key Findings
Plant-based dietary patterns, which were high in fruits, vegetables, and legumes were associated with a 41% lower risk of heart failure. On the other hand, a Southern-style dietary pattern, characterized by high intakes of red/processed meats and sugar-sweetened beverages, was associated with a 72% increased risk of heart failure.
