This study was a review that focused on the potential role of functional foods like nuts, berries, and ginger in weight loss and metabolism. The study looked at approximately 100 articles.
Among other foods, nuts was cited for containing polyphenols, fiber, unsaturated fats, and folate, which may all play a role in disease prevention. The authors noted that peanuts specifically are rich in monounsaturated fat (oleic acid) and arginine, which both can help with weight management. More research is needed that examines the mechanisms of nut consumption and weight control.
