This study used data from the Nurses' Health Study (83,818 people) to examine the relationship between nut consumption (peanut, peanut butter, and other nuts) and risk of type 2 diabetes.
Key Findings: Results showed that nut consumption was associated with a significantly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. Peanut butter consumption was associated with a 21% reduction in type 2 diabetes risk for women who consumed it 5 times per week or more compared with those who consumed none.
