Methods

This prospective study included 20,742 male physicians and assessed their nut/peanut intake between 1999 and 2002. The objective was to identify the relationship between nut/peanut consumption and mortality risk.

Key Findings

Key Findings: Nut/peanut consumption was associated with a 26% reduced mortality risk in the highest consumers (5 times or more per week) compared with the lowest consumers (less than one serving per month). There was also a strong inverse association between nut/peanut consumption and cardiovascular disease mortality.
