Methods

In this paper, the American Heart Association Nutrition Subcommittee examined the evidence surrounding dietary omega-6 fatty acids and risk for heart disease. Peanuts contain omega-6 fats.

Key Findings

Key Findings: The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends including omega-6 in the diet for heart health. The chairman of the AHA advisory board, Dr. William Harris, encourages Americans not to decrease their intake of omega-6 fats because of the abundance of evidence pointing to its benefits in reducing inflammation and decreasing obesity and heart disease risk.
