In this study, authors investigated the effect of p-coumaric acid on GABA. P-coumaric acid is a prominent antioxidant in peanuts. GABA is a neurotransmitter that regualted mood, stress, and anxiety
Key Findings: Results showed that p-coumaric acid was able to target the neurotransmitter GABA, and subsequently decrease anxiety and stress. Authors noted that p-coumaric acid had similar effects for reducing stress as one of the leading anxiety-reducing drugs, Diazepam.
