Methods

In this study, authors induced type 2 diabetes in mice and tested the action of 80mg/kg of peanut skin extract (PSE) on various measures.

Key Findings

Key Findings: Authors found that the effects of 80 mg/kg PSE were similar to those of 140 mg/kg metformin (a drug for type 2 diabetes). Fasting glucose, body weight, and food intake decreased with PSE supplementation, and glucose tolerance/insulin sensitivity both improved. While this is an animal study, the results show some promise for peanut skins' beneficial effect in humans.
