Methods

This is a review about the different ways reservratrol protects the cell from cancer. Resveratrol is a bioactive compound in peanuts.

Key Findings

Key Findings: There are multiple cellular mechanisms including apoptosis (cell death) and cancer cell shrinkage that allows resveratrol to protect against cancer. In the breast, it blocks estrogen toxicity, thereby protecting against breast cancer. Through a variety of mechanisms, it also protects again skin, liver, and renal cancers. For skin, it enhances UVB induced cell death. For liver, it decreases TNF-a to prevent liver cancer. It prevents renal cancer induced by oxidative damage.
