This article reviews the evidence surrounding the effects of arginine on hypertension. Peanuts contain one of the highest levels of arginine in foods.

Key Findings: Arginine-rich diets have been shown to lower blood pressure in humans. This may be because arginine has the ability to improve insulin resistance, as well as increase nitric oxide levels and decrease oxidative stress.
